Roanoke Valley Super Adoption, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to finding good, loving homes for pets in need, and promoting spay and neuter to help curb the pet overpopulation in our area. We serve as a liaison organization for the numerous rescue groups, shelters and humane societies in the Roanoke Valley area and throughout Southwest Virginia. Unlike the organizations we strive to help, we do not rescue animals ourselves (we leave that up to the many wonderful organizations in our area that are so dedicated to animal rescue). Rather, we encourage shelter animal adoptions by organizing, promoting and implementing special events that focus on adoption of animals in need, and by promoting our area rescue groups. Most of the rescue organizations in our area must focus on the numerous animals in need, and

therefore do not have the time or resources to organize adoption events, create web sites, or promote themselves. That is where we come in. Every member of our organization is an unpaid volunteer and we never charge for our services. Our premier event is the annual Roanoke Valley Super Adoption. As our organization grows, we anticipate that our support services will grow to include a regional pet finder web site and additional services to benefit our area rescue groups.

Roanoke Valley Super Adoption was founded in the fall of 2002 by Ann-Marie and Steve Hamblin of Fincastle, Virginia, after an emaciated mother cat and her four kittens were dumped on the Hamblin's gravel road on a cold rainy night. After rescuing the family, the Hamblins tried to place them into one of the local shelters, only to find the shelters full and overcrowded with abandoned animals. It was then that they decided to form Roanoke Valley Super Adoption, Inc. to help bring awareness to the extreme pet overpopulation in our area, and to help find homes for shelter animals. The Hamblins placed the four kittens into good, loving homes where they were spayed or neutered. The mother cat, Ashley, was also spayed and is now a permanent part of the Hamblin pet family.
